Get to Know Us

"Girl Talk to the Community" was founded by Susie Hughes in 2010. The agency was founded to help children and youth from disadvantaged back grounds. The program Started in Southeast Dallas County and has expanded to include East and South Dallas, including the Fair Park area. The agency initiated services by providing life skill for Teenage youth from low-income backgrounds. Over the past several months, the services provided have expanded to include academic enrichment, mentoring, teen pregnancy prevention, Violence prevention/ bullying prevention, career development, financial literacy and leadership development.

 

To date, Girl Talk to the Community has provided services to over 300 children and youth Ages 8-21. Services have included all of the services listed above. The VIP program is one of several programs that targets children and youth ages 10-17 the program targets youth who has been identified as being bullied and at risk that are being involved in Gangs or criminal activity. A majority (over 75%) of our services are targeted in the South Dallas /Fair Park Areas.

Our Founder 

Susie Hughes was born January 3, 1963 in Rockwall, Texas. She is a well known licensed Child Care Director in which she has 19 years of child care experience. She has children in which one has passed and she then became a foster mom in 2004. She enhances the knowledge of child care professionals and hosts training classes to ensure the best quality of teachers who work in child care. Her expertise is in the area of training and development. She is currently attending Ashford University pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. She holds many other credentials such as TDCJ (Texas Department of Criminal Justice) certification, Directors License as well as a Juvenile and Criminal Justice Certification., This enables her to volunteer and assist in the State Jails and Juvenile Justice systems. She all so volunteer at Miller Group House for ADHD Patience .Mrs. Hughes enjoys Outreach services which allows her to "Make a Positive Difference" in our communities. Her main goal is to render services to the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex to help in any way that she can. She is currently doing so by operating a Summer Food Program that helps low-income families maintain healthy nutrition throughout the summer months. This program services children 0-18 years of age. Ms. Hughes founded a non-profit organization which is "Giving Back to the Community" in November 2010.

Girl Talk to the Community is serving our future stars by providing services such as: Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Abstinence, Literacy, Teen Domestic Violence Prevention, Choices, Gang Issues and at risk teens.

Mrs. Hughes has great organizational, office skills, marketing capacity and other great attributes, therefore, she is sure to add "Value and Success' to any organization by building blocks of "Hope, Faith, Positive Relationships and assistance to those in need."
